TECHNICAL ENGINEERING
Global Wood Tech provides comprehensive technical engineering services tailored to timber structures. We combines cutting-edge technology and expertise to deliver innovative and reliable engineering solutions for timber structures, meeting the highest standards of quality and compliance.
Leveraging advanced softwares like Robot Structural Analysis Professional Autodesk® and Cadwork®, we ensure compliance with the International Building Code (IBC), Eurocodes (EC), Australian/New Zealand Standard (AS/NZS) or any other local regulation specified by clients.
Here’s a summary of our capabilities:
- Structural Analysis: we conduct detailed analyses to define and size structural systems, considering various loads such as dead load, live load, wind (including cyclonic wind), and seismic loads.
- Wind Load Simulation: Our dynamic wind load simulation capabilities ensure accurate analysis of buildings based on their geometry and geographical location. This feature enables us to generate wind loads with the highest precision, crucial for designing resilient structures.
- Fire Resistance Rating: We incorporate client-defined or local building code fire resistance ratings into our designs, prioritizing safety and compliance.
- Documentation and Reporting: Our comprehensive calculation reports include structural and stability verifications, complete loads data tables, and other relevant information, serving as valuable documentation for project stakeholders.
- CAD/CAM Modeling: Using Cadwork®, we create detailed 3D models covering every project phase, from design to site management, ensuring efficiency and accuracy.
- BIM Integration: We export data to Building Information Modeling (BIM) documentation in formats like IFC, DWG, DXF, and ACIS, facilitating seamless exchange with stakeholders and manufacturers.
More about
STRUCTURAL ANALYSIS
Structural Analysis is handled with Robot Structural Analysis Professional Autodesk® (https://www.autodesk.com/) software, a powerful 3D FEA program developed to define and size planar and spatial structural systems (composed of plates, walls, shells and members) and to determine assemblies suitable to materials in use (wood, steel, concrete…) .
RSA integrates all different types of loads acting on structures : dead load, live load, impact load and rolling load, wind (cyclonic if hurricane area) and seismic.
The Wind Load Simulation function is particularly advanced. This dynamic simulator analyses buildings according to their geometry and geographical location then generates wind loads with the highest accuracy.
Fire resistance rating as defined by clients or local building codes is also taken into consideration.
GWT structural analysis is published in the form of calculation reports including all building structure and stability verifications and complete load data tables of structures on foundations
The GWT technical department produces all data in-house, from structural 3D files to engineering details and plans for pre-study, execution, manufacturing and assembly project phases.
Files are exported to Building Information Modeling (BIM) documentation in IFC or other various formats (DWG, DXF, ACIS…) for optimal exchange with customers and other project stakeholders, including manufacturers equipped with CNC machinery.
